HI, WE ARE JO & MAY

We are so happy to have you here.

It is our insight, passion and experience of how mindfulness can help us to lead happier lives, in spite of or maybe especially because we know that this includes pain and suffering, that encouraged us to create Mindfully you with Jo and May.

Since training with MindfulnessUK in 2021, we are very excited to deliver our course and retreats together, drawing on each other’s experiences as seasoned mindfulness practitioners.

We know that there are many mindfulness teachers and courses out there, so what’s different about us?

HEART AND MIND BROUGHT TOGETHER IN THE PRESENT MOMENT. MINDFUL. AWARE. FULLY YOU.

Why ‘mindfully you’?

We’ve intentionally chosen 'Mindfully you' to be a word play. This is on the one hand about becoming a more mindful being and through that being 'fully you’. By that we mean bringing your true self to the fore - something we often hide or suppress to fit in.

We’ve also used the Japanese symbol and word for mindfulness: nen in our logo. We loved learning about what the kanji symbol nen represents with its two elements (inspired by a post we read by Full of Mindfulness). The top part is like a roof or mountain peak which means presence, now, today, this present era, this moment. Beneath the roof/peak is shin which can be translated to heart and/or mind. In Full of Mindfulness, we learn: "The combination of these characters suggests this possible interpretation: heart and mind brought together into this very moment; full awareness with heart.”

For us, this represents mindfulness in its purest form and we wanted to integrate this sentiment into our logo. We hope you find it as inspiring as we do.

Introducing
Jo Ulatowska

Jo’s background is rooted in primary and special needs education across the UK. However, the experience of teaching monks at a monastery in Nepal was a truly life changing moment for her. Full of passion for Eastern traditions and a holistic approach to health, she evolved into a humble learner herself of how to live and enjoy NOW. Very soon an interest in mindfulness turned into the way of life. Years later, she is dedicated to guiding adults and children during their own mindfulness journey. With her strong understanding of TSM (Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness), she offers support and practice modifications to those who might experience difficulties with a conventional approach to meditation. Jo has been living a nomadic life between Europe and Asia for a long while, however at this moment, she calls Portugal her home.

If you would like to find out more about Jo and her life through the lens of mindfulness, read some of her blog posts about struggle with mindfulness practice, being a mindful nomad and supporting teachers’ mental health.

Introducing
May Breisacher

May is a behaviour change professional with over 14 years experience working in the UK, focused on sustainability and social impact, employee experience and engagement. May is a qualified coach, passionate about wellbeing, personal development and helping people find purpose in their careers. A keen learner, May is curious about psychology and human behaviour, thinking holistically about change and how we address personal and collective challenges of our time. She’s a firm believer that small changes over time add up to big changes, having experienced this first hand in her own life. With mindfulness, we become more aware of and allow ourselves to more fully experience both the positive and the negative, seeing things in a different light, connecting the dots. And through that we can change the narrative of our life. May is a UK BAMBA-registered mindfulness teacher.

If you would like to find out more about May and her experience of mindful change, here are some of her blog posts about decluttering, living with pain and how we journey mindfully.

Our approach

Jo and May deliver mindfulness in a secular way, while also fully acknowledging its origin in Eastern traditions. Using our different backgrounds, we bring our passion and insight into our teaching to give you a rounded learning experience, including practical tools to apply to your daily life. We follow the BAMBA Good practice guidelines in how we deliver our sessions. We are sticking to the evidence based research for the MBSR course, while also bringing in new insights and discoveries on mindfulness based approaches. We are keen to tailor sessions for you based on you and your team’s circumstances and needs.
